Biography

Silka, born in the western Sea of 1,000 Currents, has always been close with the Fae
She found ease and acceptance among the Fae, admiring them for their craftiness and connection to their elements. While in typical Guardian fashion all her peers were dead-set on seeking out their object of guardianship in order to assert their place in the world, Silka often stole away to the community of Fae living along the east shores of the Windswept Plateau, their clustered networks of dens affixed to the gargantuan bamboo of the Zephyr Steps. There, the peaceful colony of Fae saw her as she is and asked nothing more than a hand moving some heavier materials now and again. They were her second family and closest friends, despite her being several times their size.
Having spent most of her young life enamored with the culture of her Fae dragon friends, when the day came for her to set off to find her place, she could only think to return to her lifelong escape. Although she was avoiding partaking on her journey, she soon forgot to consider it at all. For some years she served as the Fae's friend and helper, taking up a job delivering trade supplies for the clan. That is, until the Harpys living up in the Reedcleft Ascent became restless. Seeing the tiny Fae as good target practice as opposed to the larger Windflight clans, the viscious bird-people swooped down in a mid-day strike, catching the community fully off-guard.
Silka returned from her routine delivery to find the clan in a panick, with many of her friends wounded or worse. The so-called perpetual peace of the Zephyr Steps had failed them, and Silka felt she had too. In the coming days the remaining Fae made the decision to relocate - they were no longer safe here. Though many were expecting Silka to return home, there was no question for her what she would do. Together they trekked the borders of Water, Wind, Fire, and Lightening, until they finally found a suitable, unclaimed cavern to settle in. Just to the north of the Tsunami Flats, beneath the cliffs of the cliffs of the Sunbeam Ruins, the Fae found their new home; and after the harrowing journey, Silka finally realized she had found her home among the Fae.

They built a community where the rocky sides of the cave met the ever-rippling waters below, a small lantern-lit town with the nests of the Fae sturdily secured along the walls and ceiling of the cave, appearing as a large, drooping cocoon blanketing the dark waters below it in gentle, golden light. While the Fae found plenty enough food either within the cave or along the crevices of the cliff-face just outside it, Silka learned to grow and harvest mushrooms and keep her own breeding dens for fish. Along the way she has also become an intermediate scryer thanks to the teachings of a more elderly Fae who has since passed. With her superior size, undying dedication, and a little bit of foresight, she has kept this clan safe for decades.
The only hiccup in her routine during this time was the discovery of a desperate Imperial female - a Shadowflight who looked sickly and close to laying her nest. Feeling that familiar surge of protective energy, Silka aided the stranger to their den. The poor dragon, Anoushka, told the story of her disease and how the long journey she's undertaken was to exalt herself to the Shadowbinder, until she realized she was with egg. Despite never having hatchlings nor intending to, Silka still acted as a mother-like figure to the young Fae of her clan and deeply sympathized with Anoushka. When the Imperial laid her eggs, Silka was right there with her, helping her care for them while waiting for their hatching. To her dismay, only one of the five hatchlings survived - a scrawny blue male. Heartbroken at losing so many of the eggs and the constant pain she had been in the weeks prior to the hatching the Shadowflight dragon's urge to return to the Shadowbinder was stronger than ever. Anoushka used all the optimism she had to wish her young one well in life before taking off into the night, leaving Silka with her only son: Marelux.
