Alcaeus is Shreya's Twin brother. Found as babies by the clan's scavangers, they ran away from their original clan, but had collapsed due to hunger and fatigue; Alcaeus was battered and bruised, and looked like he was in extreme pain, wrapped in his sister's body that desperately hissed and growled to protect him. It seemed as though they couldn't speak, didn't know how to write or read, and looked like they had been through hell and back. Through the journey home they never separated from each other, and kept looking in the sibling's eyes, scared but also hopeful; every once in a while they'd shake or nod their heads, and it seemed that with no real way of comunicating they had figured their own.
As they were brought to the nests, they slept for entire days, and ate like adults once they woke up. They kept physical contact the whole time. When the clan members tried to convince them to untangle through gentle physical contact, they met Shreya's violent reaction, as she growled and bit whoever got close to her brother. The twins had to be knocked out with potions to be examined by the healers. Once that was managed it was finally clear why: in the process of untangling them, someone had pulled too hard, and Shreya's wing talon scraped Alcaeus' body... leaving a wound that immediately started bleeding. The healers uncovered the mystery: the twins were born from the same egg*, and because of this, they are sterile, and Alcaeus was born with a disease that basically turned him into a glass dragon. A hit delivered with the strenght of a hatchling playing would hurt him like he had been whipped. A blow too heavy could kill him. Because of his disease, Alcaeus is quite reclusive and shy. He rarely leaves his nest, and although he speaks normally, he's very quiet when his sister's not around. As twins, they share a special bond, sometimes finishing each other's sentences, and he completely relies on his sister in an unknown environment, often worrying way too much. With time, he too accepted his place in the clan, and although he cannot have babies of his own he enjoys making toys for the clan's younglings, and putting up little marionette shows for them. |
Familiar:
Zaira
Snob and dangerous are perfect words for describing her. She tends to be very protective of her owner, whith whom she formed a strong bond; she's often seen lurking around the nest to check for dangers, and will even more often scream and threaten with her claws any unlucky hatchling who happens to naively approach Alcaeus for a game of play fight. She's often snapped her beak at them if they became too rough, and the clan's younglings are always wary and a bit scared of her. Which she finds perfect. When she's calm she will completely ignore anybody except Alcaues, who is the only dragon she'll be seen being gentle with. She loves playing fetch... but don't point it out if you care for your face to stay where it is. |
