Biography
The Researcher
Seer
The stories are still told of how long ago Iris once went by another name, and how she was a princess of a long forgotten kingdom of Light. How she left the safety of her home, swept up in tales of wonder and adventure by a story telling adventurer and how they fell in love in their travels.
The stories always vary, how they fell in love. What they did. Who they met. How they fell. The most common, and hushed, retelling paints a picture of the pair fleeing towards the Tangled Wood perused by agents of the princess' royal family. How at the very edge of the Hewn City the story teller collapsed, injuries attempting to claim his life, and how the princess stood between death itself and the oncoming army. Her frantic and furious chanting summoning forth a horror from within the City that possessed her body and how with it's power the army was destroyed and her love was restored. Regardless of the version you hear, it always ends the same. Whatever caused the princes to try channeling such uncontrollable energies, what caused her to unknowingly call out to the Horrors, the result shattered her mind and left her wandering in darkness until the day the residents of the Temple finally met their doom. She and her mate were destroyed, and it was not until the Matriarch's return that the pair was reborn.
Taking up new names, Iris and her mate remember little of their time in death and they remember even less about the circumstances of their rebirth. Slowly piecing together her shattered memories Iris has become obsessed with the Hewn City and the secrets and horrors that lie within. Paired with her mate, and a small squad of paladins that have pledged their services to her, she traverses the Hewn City collecting clues and keys that she then uses to venture into the old tombs and temples to root out the evil and the knowledge within.
It is only during the nights of the New Moon and the Full Moon that Iris and her squad are the most active. It is these nights that they delve into the darkness. Until then they prepare, gathering information and preparing their bodies, minds and souls. It is a dangerous but fruitful endeavor, bringing home various ancient artifacts, scrolls and knowledge and even the odd lesser abomination all for the sake of the Library. For study. To better arm themselves against that which lurks.
Iris is still piecing together her memories, her past. She dreams of when the entity wore her body and ran it around. She is starting to remember how her love stayed at her side, the stories he told to her to try and keep her with him. To help her remember. She remembers his tone, the sad look in his eyes and the gentle but fearful touches.
A skilled mage and priestess of the light she knows little in the art of hand to hand combat but has started to receive training. Demanding it of the paladins that accompany her and of the clan's own Warrior Duo and Hunter Prince, she has been learning how to channel her magic into weapons to use to better protect herself and those she cares for.
She is a calm and calculating mind, a stoicism that hides her wonder for the world and the love she feels for those around her. At times her laughter rings through the clan, her song and dance can be seen at festivities as she intertwines with the matriarch, small smiles might be seen sneaking across her lips as her love leans in close to whisper into her ear or as he retells stories from when they were young and bold and free. These are rare moments, hard to miss but cherished by those who once knew the pearlcatcher as Quinn.
