At first, they thought the little Wind dragon mute; rather than gossip like the rest of her breed, she would glance nervously between faces as she passed, all her communication in shifts of the body, hunched shoulders, and small shakes of the head. They wondered if, maybe, she had seen something traumatic -- been exiled from her former clan -- came down with a unique illness -- been deeply injured...

But to Haydee, none of these things mattered. She spent day after day with the silent pearlcatcher, telling her stories, showing her scavenged trinkets and insects she'd caught, singing her songs she'd learned from her mother. And in these moments, Bleu expressed herself in a rare way that she reserved for precious few things -- with a smile.

Bleu began to open up more -- not with words, but with beautiful displays of magic, a talent that the clan quickly realized she was adept in. When the beastclans began to encroach and Kiwi entreated her to use her talents to help defend the clan, Bleu was initially hesitant. It was only after seeing the fear in Haydee's eyes as supplies began to dwindle that she finally agreed.

As months passed, Bleu honed her magic to a fine point, eventually confident enough to join Fenrir and Ashe on expeditions all throughout the Viridian Labyrinth. In time, they became more than clan members to her -- they became trusted companions, and she to them. It was on one such expedition that the three of them faced their worst foe yet in the form of a small battalion of Plague warriors, sent to wreak havoc on the Gladekeeper's realm. The three of them battled off the threat, but not without cost; Bleu was just strong enough to heal Fenrir from the brink of a life-threatening wound, and for the first time, they heard her speak two words aloud: "I'm sorry."

After the loss of many of the clan members, Haydee -- formerly Bleu -- was distraught more than most, and sought to memorialize them by changing her name and her colors with intense magic. She claims now that all she needs of her former self is in her pearl, and the rest of her being stands as another important token of memory.
