The Hewn city.

A young dragon takes on his search for the first time. His very first travels from his home. He was excited to see the sights around his homeland for the first time. To let his calling lead him to where it wanted him.

Days and nights he spent traveling. At first it was breathtaking for him. New sights, new smells. He had a clear path in which he needed to take. Soon though the novelty wore out for him. As young as he was he didn't think it would really take this long. His parents had warned him that it would.

The first year he stayed in the Sunbeam Ruins. He found himself starting to walk circles about the land. Until he came across a mirror pack. Or rather once they found him.

They were impressed by him. Such a large guardian. With impressive horns and maw. They invited him to stay with them, thinking maybe they can get themselves a guard to keep others from stealing their food. He agreed since something about them was drawing him in.

For two years he stayed with them. At first it was smooth sailing. He had a path again and he no longer found himself wanting to walk circles. They called him a noble name. Exalted. He found himself drawn to the name and kept it.

Soon the mirror pack showed their true side. Lies were tossed about like rocks. Used to take advantage of their own pack mates and those they found on their travels. Slowly it started getting to Exalted. He tried to help them stop, but he only started to get more and more agitated with each lie spoken. The mirrors made a game of this. Nipping at his heels with lies to watch him try and attack back.

How could they keep at this? How could they keep disregarding him, his charge? Slowly it drove him mad. The smallest of lies would make him attack. All of the lies. He had to go.

In the night he left. Left all that he called his behind and took off. It was time he left this pack and the ruins. He didn't care where he went. He just wanted to go.

Exalted made his way to the Scarred Wasteland. Surely the dragons of there would be nothing like the mirror pack he called home for so long. Surely in the name of survival lies would be unwelcomeed.

He went with high hopes, but with time that too dwindled away. He traveled the wasteland for a year with sign of hide or hair or another dragon. Unbeknownst to him he did pick up a traveler on his way. It started small. A few hard spots here and there, an occasional sore spot in his joints. He thought nothing of it. Even when it grew more and more.

One day he collapsed. Unable to move anymore because of the pain his gembond disease brought him. His joints ached. His skin blistered. Exalted was sure he was not going to survive. He prayed that maybe he would survive, and if he didn't that his charge be protected without him.

He closed his eyes. Fully sure it was for the last time.

But he did open them again. This time in a shack that protected him from the searing sun. In front of him a guardian who had - what he called at the time - a funny hat.

Exalted had been brought to Terminus. Here he became Fierce's mate and his gembond treated. It did end up taking his sight but it had no progressed further. He became a scholar and taught each new generation. He was welcomed here, and he found where he could protect his charge.

Though came a day when one more lie would come to haunt him. A simple lie of what someone said they came to do. He always thought it would be the gembond that killed him. Instead it was the lie that did it to him. Betrayed but his own clanmate and his son taken from him.

He knew this would be the last time he closed his eyes.

But yet again they opened.

He's made his way home.
