the Lionheart

Mature and dignified, Aliao could pass as anyone's dear old blind grandmother if it wasn't for her near-obsession with swords and warfare. One of the three leaders of clan Fenghuang, Aliao is also the most fiercely devoted to the militarism of the Old Light. Kind and ruthless, Aliao views the protection of dragonkind from the Shade as her and her clan's objective - and cares little about anything that falls outside that sphere, to say nothing of those that block it. Once a front-line warrior, Aliao has since retired to a position of strategy and administration. She's very good at what she does, and is implied to be older than she appears. Aliao's eyes are a scarred ruin and she is completely blind, which does not appear to bother her, navigating easily by scent and sound. The library in Sky is primarily her doing, which explains why there are so many treatises on obscure sword styles. Why a blind tundra felt the urge to collect books is a mystery yet to be solved.
