The Starfall Isles is a place of magic. It holds the most potential for young mages who wish to further in the studies of the unknown. Haemon was this, through and through. She'd been fascinated with the universe and the secrets it held from the moment she opened her large starlight-laden eyes. She was prideful over her intellectual prowess, and would spend hours of each evening, gazing into the endless expanse of lights that surrounded her, as if she could find all of her answers in them. It was a rainy evening when she decided to venture away from the strand, to follow a faint glisten in the distance. Days passed, and Haemon was nowhere to be found...

Eventually, she had decided that the Abiding Boneyard wasn't so bad. How she got there, she wasn't exactly sure of anymore. Her delicate claws were bloody and aching from the fight she'd been putting up in order to survive. She'd abandoned the idea of calling out for help when she realized that her voice had somehow vanished, and was showing no signs of returning. It was better that way, she thought. That way, she couldn't attract any enemies to her even when she was afraid.

Thunder roared, and shadows played over the harsh terrain. She'd made her home inside the rotting trunk of a dying tree, which was just small enough to hold her tiny body. She knew it wouldn't last for much longer, but it was another day's problem. She knew that the shadows were creeping closer...

The world around her went dark, for a brief moment, when suddenly a bright red eye peeked through an opening in the bark. Haemon thought she was about to finally meet her match, when she heard a gentle voice on the other side...
