Sentient

Sentient came upon the family unseen. The hatchlings were playing among the rocks in the ocean bay when something went wrong. Garra, an obvious outcast of the group, approached the others and demanded something. The others denied, taunting him, and Garra tried swiping with his claws. While they fled in fear, Garra grew vicious and chased them. Sentient descended in front to block a swipe from falling on young Anaben. The claw marks were deep, and Garra recoiled in horror and fascination at the beautiful being in front of him, and what he had just cursed them with. Sentient stepped towards Garra and came close to him, sniffing at his bloody claws.
"You smell of a beautiful poison. You must be feared among those of your kind." She said sorrowfully, but then stood tall and said tenderly, "I shall stay by your side; poisons do not affect my being. You and those around you will be safe from the strength of your venom. You will not be alone."
Garra stared at her, confused and angry, but still fascinated. Then the words finally registered as truth, and he started to weep at her feet, thanking her and calling her an angel.
Sentient looked to her side to see Rairon staring at them intently, the hatchlings hiding against his frame. He nodded slightly, accepting her silently into the family.
