Biography
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Tricky, strange, and always willing to make everyone's lives just a bit harder, Vinea is the spirit that haunts the area near the clan grounds, mostly in the woods. While she is supposed to stay near the area she died, Vinea was never good at obeying orders and especially not from anything that made her feel like she had to stay near her place of rest. So, she takes to wandering, mostly visiting the clan grounds and putting spiders everywhere as a prank or loosening the ketchup cap a little too much. While some of her pranks seem to be childish and not in any way harmful, there is a dark side to her tricks. Sometimes, she gets a little more vicious with what she does, and that's when people see why she is still around. The bitterness and hate that filled her soul has kept her here, her soul unable to move on. Some say this hate is focused only on Niirnen, but it seeps into the lives of the other clan members. Vinea doesn't have any compassion for the living. If someone tries to 'contact' her and 'help' her move on, they'll get nothing but some several hundred spider bites--half of them poisonous. While her body is physical, and can be touched, Vinea is not alive. Touching her is something most dragons of the clan avoid as it would mean she would mark them on her list. That, and the Fae has the peculiar ability to pass through walls and disappear whenever she pleases. Catching her in the act of her pranks is near impossible, especially if she is out to relieve some of the anger and rage. Despite her pranks and being close to the clan most of the time, Vinea isn't keen on telling anyone anything. She has shared her name after a while and sometimes can be heard chuckling when she's passing through the clan's lairs, but overall she is a very secretive child who keeps to herself. The one thing she's the most protective of, however, is her resting place. When a dragon tries to go find where she died or gets near it, she turns them back by getting really nasty. Afterwards, she will make a point to haunt the dragon that tried to discover her resting place. Thus, most members of the clan know to avoid a certain part of the woods. They also know Vinea has a special dislike for the Queen of Crows, mostly because the crows tend to eat Vinea's spiders. The spiders are what Vinea calls her little friends, and most of the clan members know that if they see a spider, they better put it outside instead of kill it, or else they'll find themselves haunted for a few good weeks. Usually, though, if someone wants to find Vinea and they can't, they should look for Niirnen, as the young spirit can be seen with the dragon most of the time. When she was young, she had a wonderful time flying about her clan grounds, finally big enough for her wings to support her. She was going to grow up to be a powerful mage, a dragon that could spread disease as well as cure the vilest of plagues. She was going to be a star! A hero to countless clans! With her magic and skills, she could cure so many creatures that were suffering from diseases that Plague dragons created. Why, she couldn't wait to help the rest of the world! Until, of course, that day happened. Vinea was taking a trip to the Ashfall Waste, to explore the lands, especially the forest. It intrigued her that such a hot wasteland could have forest--given most of the plants were scorched or burnt. Her curiosity lead her into the depths of some of the forest, into the parts that still had some foliage that had evolved to deal with the heat and fire. While there, she got lost. This is where she refuses to tell the tale to other dragons. While she was lost, she came across Niirnen, believing she had found hope, Vinea pleaded with the older dragon to help her find the way out. The dragon agreed and began to lead Vinea through the woods, but things got far too treacherous. Traps had been placed everywhere, and Vinea soon found herself caught, like a fly in a spider's web. She tried to get free, but Niirnen's traps were too skillfully made. Vinea died, among the company of spiders. Her soul bonded to the bugs, and wherever a spider was, Vinea could too be. This was when she began to plan spiders on Niirnen's apparel, able to be near her killer at any time of the day. This part of her past, however, is kept under tight lock and key. Vinea has never been one to let other people solver her problems, and if anyone was going to destroy Niirnen, it would be the spirit of the young Fae who died in the woods. Of course, she puts on the looks of an innocent Fae that only plays pranks when she needs a good laugh, but spirits can only hang around if there were strong emotions present during the death. For Vinea, it was anger, rage, hate, and the need for revenge. When Niirnen's magic runs out, and when the dragon passes away, Vinea would be sure to crush the spirit of the killer before it has a chance to go anywhere. Vinea would be sure. Of course, until that happens, she's more than happy to make the lives of some of the other clan members miserable, especially those that get some fake spiritual leaders to try and help Vinea 'move on'. Moving on is something she will never do, not until her killer has passed and is brought to justice. Oh, if only Vinea still had control over her magic from when she was alive, then Niirnen would know the meaning of suffering… unless the dragon was hiding a secret Vinea can’t see behind the eyes of the skull mask. ~by Dew |
