Helaku

Helaku is one of the leaders of the Clan of New Beginnings. He created it years ago along with his partner, Alex, and his best friend, Taranath. Their goal was to create a place for anyone who had lost their way, anyone who didn't belong. As dragons who had once been lost themselves, they are grateful everyday for the livelihood of their clan.

Helaku was once part of a secretive clan of guardians. Contrary to their usual behavior, this clan swore to stay together, never to leave and find their own charge. Helaku was unsatisfied with his clan's way of life. He had incredible wanderlust, and his heart ached to see the world.
One night, he planned on sneaking out just for a few hours to see what was on the other side of the mountain that sheltered them. He was caught by one of the elders of the clan, and was immediately confronted upon his return. Leaving the clan without cause was seen as a sign of betrayal and disloyalty, so he was exiled without further thought. This broke his heart. As much as he wanted to see the world, he had known nothing besides his life in the clan, and he knew that he would miss it forever. He left behind his mother and siblings, who were just as distraught as he was.

He wandered for days. He had no idea where he was supposed to go or how he was supposed to survive without a clan. He simply walked, hoping he would find something that would give his life order again.

About a week into his journey, he came across a body lying still in the woods.

He picked up the injured skydancer and carried her to a nearby stream. She had burns all along her body, and it was a few days before she started to make a recovery.

She introduced herself as Taranath and told Helaku about how she had become separated from her clan, and Helaku told his story as well. Over the next few days, Helaku kept Taranath safe while she healed, and as soon as she was well again, they went together to find her home clan.

When they arrived, the clan was in ashes. The fire clan that they fought with had burned everything to the ground. No members of the clan were to be seen.

Taranath was incredibly distraught. She was worried that something like this would have happened, but now that it was before her eyes, her heart was shattered.

The two dragons, both lost with nobody except each other, decided to build a home together. They found a secluded area of the forest and founded the beginnings of the tiny Rogue clan. Little did they know, the clan would soon grow into a haven for lost ones just like themselves.

Helaku is one of the friendliest and most affable dragons you could meet. His personality is bright and sunny, and his laugh could light up the whole forest. He is a strong believer in generosity and kindness, which is part of why he makes such a great leader for the Clan of New Beginnings. He believes that all dragons have some good inside them, and even the most wretched of beings can find their way back to happiness; but they can only do that if they decide to for themselves. Helaku invites any and all dragons to join the clan and start anew, giving them an opportunity to be happy again.
