Biography
THE SAND-HOUND Born a Skydancer to an affluent clan near the Radiant Eye, Lupo's youthful self could not be more different from the dragon he is today. Quiet and shy, he secluded himself from his peers and elders, wracked by migraines from his overly developed Skydancer antenna. He found comfort in legends and fables, imagining himself as a great leader or pirate. When he came of age, he sought out the means to change himself to a Mirror and set out on his own, training in the lower Coliseum venues and completely reinventing his inner nature. Lupo now imagines himself to be a dashing and flirtatious rogue, forging a charismatic exterior in order to best navigate the harsh wilds and distrusting nomad clans of the Expanse. A notorious flirt, Lupo is frequently found at trading hubs, carousing with migrants and smuggling contraband under the nose of the territory's reigning clans. |
"...you're late," the tawny Skydancer muttered sourly. Lupo shrugged, crawling past the jagged barricade made of old spears and broken wagon wheels. "I made the exchange as agreed. I think a little tardiness after the fact can be forgiven." He flicked his cape to the side, pulling a hefty coin pouch out of one of his hidden pockets and tossing it over to Mollymawk. He ignored the strapping Skydancer's withering glower, slinking underneath the hull of the overturned cart. Canvas and pelts stretched across pikes like a series of interwoven lean-tos, aglow with soft lights from the firefly lanterns. "You need to start listening," Mollymawk snarled from behind him, silhouette intensified by the flaring shape of his phoenix. "Before one of your little dalliances gets you killed and us discovered." The would-be 'prince's' word's fell on more or less deaf ears as Lupo settled into his section of the camp on top of a wolf pelt spread. Woozy off alcohol, he was halfway adrift to sleep before a fresh silhouette invaded his personal space. Sitting upright with a grunt, he bared his teeth at the intruder. "Don't you have some fortune-tellings to get back to, bone-speaker?" "Something is changing," Belphegor rasped, his expression obscured as always behind his veil. "Mollymawk is right. You need to prepare yourself for what is coming to this desert." Lupo heaved a sigh and dropped down onto the pelts. "Perhaps try and make your decrees a little less cryptic," he said, "and then I will start taking them seriously. Until then, let me do my job as I know best how to do it - and let me get some sleep." |
