Aurelius was bound by a life of humble honor and steadfast duty, living to do nothing more than to serve the deities as best he could as an exalted knight. His strength and skill were unmatched and his commitment was his life. It was a simple existence, and he'd thought he'd had everything he'd needed in life.

That was, until he fell in love. Hypha came into his life explosively and suddenly, and their lives were intertwined just as passionately as his had been to the Plaguebringer. His duties laid aside and forgotten in the wake of his newly awakened infatuation, the tides of fate didn't take kindly to Aurelius's duties abandoned and laid aside so fervently, and Hypha was soon stricken with a great illness upon her arrival to the Wasteland, and in due time, succumbed to the disease.

Stricken with grief at the loss of his mate, Aurelius begged to any power that would listen to get her back. The weak vestiges of the Shade heard his plea. In return for a willing host, he could have his dear Hypha back. Eagerly accepting the false promises, he took the Shade into himself and let it consume him and Hypha, changing them both into unspeakable abominations that roam silently, eerily through the Abiding Boneyard.
