Biography
Mysterious | Unsettling | Heartless
Exalter Notable for his rather...undesirable reputation, Thanatos takes unsettling pride in his role as the Vulpes Clan’s Exalter. Nesting mothers often find themselves uneasy at the mere mention of his name; for his role is to train and exalt hatchlings with no purpose in the clan, or if the clan’s lair is too cramped. His so-called “job” is controversial as a whole, even among fellow clanmates; Thanatos was appointed by Apatite long ago, and ever since, mothers often complain and share their troubles with the clan leader; but all he can offer as a result is a mere shrug and quietly murmured apologies. Many believe Apatite was forced into bringing Thanatos into the clan, and even the tundra insists that it’s not the case; but dragons within the lair have their doubts. With a constant issue in keeping the clan’s population low, it made sense to bring in an Exalter; however, Thanatos’s morals aren’t exactly in the right spot. Usually moments, but if they’re lucky, then after several days of being hatched, Thanatos takes hatchlings from their mothers and either trains, or brings them unprepared to the borderline of the battlefield, having them exalted to fight for their deity; now the Greenskeeper, and formerly, the Arcanist. A few members of the clan, such as Mirkwood, Evelyn, Tigereye, and Noxious, have pleaded time and time again for their hatchlings to be sent to other allied clans in hopes of keeping them out of Thanatos’s grasp. Thanatos noticeably expresses distaste due to this, as he’s been shown to display eagerness at the mere thought of tossing an unprepared hatchling into battle. While Apatite has granted the wishes of several parents within the clan, to spare their hatchlings from Thanatos’s grasp, others haven’t been so lucky, and have had to watch their young be taken away by the unsettling nocturne. As an individual, Thanatos is fairly reserved, isolating himself until he hears of a mother nesting in camp. He doesn’t engage in conversation unless he’s speaking with hatchlings, their parents, or Apatite - otherwise, he speaks when spoken to. Almost as mysterious as Unknown, when he’s not prowling around the nesting grounds, Thanatos can be found mulling about outside camp, training soon-to-be-exalted hatchlings or delving into his own troubling thoughts. |
