Biography

The Arcanist's Chosen

489.png15580.png968.png1079.pngarcane_banner.png
The Arcanist scans the legions of exalted. Dragons of all shapes and sizes, all sent to his famed Observatory, each a hopeful in becoming Chosen. All know what honor it is to be exalted, but very few wish to risk their lives. Most are simply cowardly. Some are hatchlings, not quite old enough to understand what has happened to them. There is no greater misdeed than sending a hatching off to war, the Arcanist thinks with a heavy sigh. He takes these hatchlings under his frail wings to his Observatory, all the way to the very top of his large but lonely tower, and allows these poor, exalted children a scholarly palace free of war.

What the Arcanist didn't know is how the magic that lay inside the tower would shape the young. Some suffered chemical burns and grew too sick to walk before dying. Some grew as normal hatchlings would, unaffected by the vast amounts of magicka coursing through their veins. Some of the Chosen changed. Their coats absorbed the ancient dust of the Tower, and purple pink hues erupted marked by swirling patterns of white. They gained incredible magic ability from studying with the Arcanist and soaking in the arcane.

When these Chosen grew, the Arcanist, recognizing their potential, sent them out into Sornieth. Young bodies infused with magicka at such an early age made for perfect scholars, and were certainly better suited to field research than an aging Deity. Able to contact the Arcanist with complex incantations, they could send new and exciting findings back almost immediately after discovery, and even allow the Arcanist to see through their eyes. Such dragons, who, during their days at the Tower, voraciously consumed tomes, sought new information with similar zeal in service to the Arcanist. If, at some point in their lives, they find a mate, they accept no less than a Chosen or a descendent. With their mate, they will fly to the Arcanist’s domain to rear their hatchlings in his Observatory, so they too can live in the pursuit of knowledge. Some say that the Arcanist only Chose a select few, others claim that any hatchling exalted will be brought to his observatory, some to die, but for others to live infused with arcane energies.
