Amir was born to a family of wealthy scholars, whose presence in the Mirrorlight Promenade has been established for generations. That kind of influence and history come with old rivalries. Perhaps a bit naïvely, Amir threw himself into his studies, determined to avoid academic drama and become a scholar of great renown by his own merit.

Amir initially studied architecture, but discovered an affinity for the biological when he met, befriended, and found himself the charge of an anatomist. Amir's parents were aghast at the idea of their son spending so much time with a brute from the Scarred Wastes- and one who spent their time poking around with corpses, no less! Their only comfort was knowing that he was at least under Ptolemy's protection.

Lost in their collaborative study, Amir and Ptolemy were blindsided when accusations of graverobbing and necromancy landed them both in the Fortress of Ends. They eventually escaped together and have been laying low ever since. Amir, for all his haughty breeding, is more willing to talk about it than Ptolemy is- but neither of them will confirm or deny their guilt.

Amir quickly assimilated into the relaxed lifestyle of his new clanmates. He's relieved to have cut ties with his family and sees his situation as an opportunity to truly make something of himself, unfettered by nepotism and family feuds. Even if he is a fugitive.
