In The Shining Ground, it is quite unusual for someone born into a different flight to obtain a high rank, but Tik beat the odds. He started out as a guard, and his skills brought him to Co-Lead-Guard. He works in place that the original Lead-Guard, Mist, can't. Already lucky for receiving a huge promotion, Tik befriended Winter and Sol, knowing that one of them was to be heir of The Shining Ground, but eventually viewed their friendship as a friendship and not a path to power. Later on, he grew affectionate for Winter and offered to be her mate. To his surprise, the unemotional dragon accepted.
As much as he might seem like an incredibly lucky dragon to outsiders, that's not the case. He was offered to The Shining Ground for not being good enough for the Arcanist. Long after the cruel incident happened, Tik nurtured hatred for the Arcanist and grew admiration for the Lightweaver. Whatever anyone in the Light flight did or said just made sense to him, and magical forces that had no explanation confused him, so it was only natural that he hated Arcane. Despite this, Tik's clanmates were highly suspicious of him. He was always excluded, always insulted, and always rejected. Tik was making plans to run away before he befriended Sol and Winter. He saw them as his chance to win success and acceptance, but eventually their friendship provided the wildclaw a late welcome. The trio was incredibly close, even after he and Winter were named mates.
