Biography
As a hatchling, Myst often was found straying from the nest during thunderstorms. She sat where she could watch the dark skies, her brown eyes focused upon the lighting that crossed the clouds and occasionally connected the earth to the sky.
For the longest time she felt a pull toward the dangerous bolts. As soon as she could, she had snuck away from the den and gone flying in one of these dangerous storms. As she entered the clouds, her plain obsidian scales began sparking. The fur that ran down her spine whipped about in the angry winds, though it stood on end as she continued her flight, signaling the inevitable. Myst was struck by the same bolts of energy that she admired so.
The moment Myst was struck, her fur shifted from the ugly brown that it had been, and, as though it had been cleaned, turned sky blue. Her scales were laced in the same blue, as though the bolt had not attacked her, rather, wrapped around her. Despite this, she was badly injured by the bolt and the resulting fall as her muscles all constricted, sending her crashing to the harsh rocks below her.
Days later, she awoke. Cold, sore, and hungry. She felt something tugging on the fur of her tail, and lifted her head to see a small hatchling. It wasn't hers, yet, the young imperial bore the same markings she now did. Slowly, she forced herself to her feet and gently picked the young one up. From there, she limped back home.
Myst's denmates had nearly given up on finding her. The storm had removed all traces of her smell from the area. When she did return, she was almost unrecognizable. Bruised and battered, she watched her mother with pained eyes, the blue glow they now possessed scaring younger hatchlings back to their nests. Myst stayed at the entrance, waiting, wondering if she would be chased off. However, her mother recognized the tell-tale scars on the younger female's chest. Scars from where she had fallen in the nest and cut herself on particularly sharp sticks.
The Matriarch immediately rushed to her daughter, supporting her to where she could lay down and have her various injuries assessed. Before this, however, Myst insisted on putting the young hatchling she had found into an empty nest. There, the small male curled up and slept, clearly not an energetic young dragon.
Once she had been nursed back to health, Myst avoided storms. This didn't surprise others. When she finally began watching the storms again, she found the hatchling, her now adopted son, would watch with her. She also noticed something else. When Iriekain flicked his little tail, lighting would arc across the sky with it. She decided to mimic this, see what would happen. The sky exploded in a lightshow, with blue lightning creating a web across the clouds. This left her in awe, though, she knew that she would have to hide this dangerous ability.
