Shattered Crystals
Shard is one of the fractured remains of a failed experiment in creating sentient crystal dragons before the great success of crystal and facet, when only gembond was possible. Earth dragons in conjunction with Arcane dragons have come second-closest, following only Earth and Shadow dragons, but Shard is an attempt between an Ice/Arcane crossbreed working with a Lightning dragon. The success was eventually discovered when dragons of all flights came together, but Shard was never healed of his damage.
