Thistle forges weaponry and armor for the clan’s soldiers, and elaborate, beautiful jewelry for the vainer dragons. Yet always, as she stands before her forge with hammer and tongs, she longs to make something more; something to help dragons, not harm them or merely decorate them.

When Viant came to her with designs for prosthetic legs and a plea, Thistle was only too happy to help him. This was what she’d always wanted to do with her skills. This was for the good of dragonkind. This was something she’d be proud to say “Yes, I built that” about.

Secretly, while the other dragons are sleeping, Thistle works on her own creations—statues, automatrons and all sorts of wild, crazy inventions, mostly programmed as guards and protectors. She always makes sure to give them an “off” switch—Tracker would be furious if one of Thistle’s creations ran wild in the lair.

Although she hides it well, Thistle also has some ambition in her; she often spends time wondering what it would be like to lead the clan, to have all that power at her beck and call. But to her, her creations are more important, and each time she quietly returns to her work, setting aside the thoughts of leadership for thoughts of rivets and bolts, metal and stone.
