Jossal is an adventurous male with a curious mind and an affinity for the natural world. He is the thoughtful, quiet type and is usually seen out in the elements, observing and taking notes. He does not like enclosed spaces and cannot stay in lairs or dragon camps for long. He rarely speaks voluntarily, but is polite when approached by others.

Although tall and lanky, this dragon is still seen as handsome by many – some say it is his flowing mane that intrigues them; others say it is his striking white smile. His wings are colorfully tattooed with a map of Sornieth, the pale blue coloration of his wings acting as the bodies of water surrounding the land. He has no pearl but instead carries a large, lightweight, spherical compass.

After losing his pearl during his young adulthood, Jossal was exiled from his proper Light clan and was forced to travel Sornieth looking for a new place to settle. Over time, though, he realized that he didn't want to settle anywhere at all. Where will the winds take him next?

The next lair Jossal found himself in was another Light clan, led by two lively Spirals and a... regal Skydancer. He quickly befriended a Fae by the name of Odd who told him great tales of the other flights, of the great beauties Sornieth had to offer. Odd encouraged Jossal to travel on, not to find a permanent place to stay but to just enjoy life. The Pearlcatcher heeded his advice and prepared to leave later that week, and before he left he was gifted Tawny Antlers, which were grafted to his head by one of the more experienced metamorphosis mages.

Staying a few days in the Observatory proved to be a huge headache. He did however find the clan gardens lovely despite the fact that the clan beekeeper, LTB, kept a close eye on him for his whole stay. The Pearlcatcher managed to befriend LTB by telling him of the flowers and plants he'd seen on his travels. The Tundra had been most interested to hear his stories and the two even looked over botanical notes that Jossal had made.

Leaving LTB's clan was not particularly difficult, however Jossal had truly missed telling grand stories of his adventures. He stopped briefly along the border of Starfall Isles and the Scarred Wasteland to visit an old friend of his – a tailor Fae by the name of Kardina. He traded in the gifts Odd had given him in return for something more practical; he redressed himself in a custom-fitted pair of pants, a small bag for carrying trinkets, and his usual pair of socks. With that he went on his way, closing his eyes and letting the muggy Plague air carry him to his next destination.

The Mysteries of the Hewn city had attracted him, there was so much to observe and study in the ancient crumble of buildings that no longer stood. While he was taking notes, several Wildclaws had stealthily closed in on him among the ruins. "Hold it right there!" one of them shouted. Caught by surprise, he held up his claws in surrender. "Who are you, and what are you doing in our territory?" A dark petal-marked female asked. She identified herself as Karma, leader to the clan. The mask she wore covered most of her face, but those crimson eyes behind it remained locked on his every move. Calmly he apologized for the intrusion. He had not known the area was occupied. He then further explained that he was a traveler and had been interested in the area. The air of aggression dissipated when he mentioned that he was a traveler. He was told that travelers were welcome, he had just slipped into the territory undetected. To show their genuine hospitality to travelers, he was taken to the living area in the lair. There he was provided with food, water and shelter for as long as he wished to stay.

After a long and welcoming stay at the Hewn City, Jossal grew restless and homesick once again. These dragons were generous, but not his family. He truly felt that whatever loose sense of loyalty he felt rested with Kardina'a clan, the Z'Arduani. Some contemplation was required for him to finally make the decision to leave, but he did not regret returning to a place that he could consider his home. With a rather ungraceful few words of goodbye, the Pearlcatcher gathered his things and took flight.

The journey back to the Wandering Contagion was uneventful and easy, other than the weight of his antlers throwing his balance off-kelter a bit. When he alighted within the borders of his home clan, the drake was awe-stricken by the advancements made to the area.

The region was dotted with small Deadwood lodges, slowly threatening to be overtaken by creeping tendrils of Contagion. Most of the outer facades of each abode were dimly lit by lanterns filled with the pulsing blue flame of Enchanted Candles or severed Ember Mouse antennae. Despite this uniformity among the small village, each home had its own unique personality; for example, one building was seemingly more plain than the others – it was a tiny square building made of concrete and webbed with live Lightning wires.

Another nearby building was composed entirely of black firebrick and dimly lit by a bucket of burning embers. Plastered on the door was a small wooden plaque depicting a Pearlcatcher standing over an anvil. Intrigued by this building, Jossal ducked into the doorway, with which he was greeted by an intense wave of heat. Inside a male Pearlcatcher caked in ash greeted him, giving him a raspy hello. "Welcome to the Z'Arduani Forge. What can I help you with?"

"This is the Z'Arduani?" Jossal gasped, taken aback. In a matter of months the small, primal clan he knew previously had transformed into a thriving town. "I used to live here..." the drake murmured to himself, staring in awe at the inner works of the Forge. After a few drawn out moments of taking in and processing all of the developments, Jossal gave a polite nod and asked, "May I speak to the clan leader?"

With a friendly grunt of approval, the blacksmith led the way to the leader's home with a cloud of ash and dust in his wake. Jossal was dropped off at the front step of Alexander's home and he quickly made his way inside.

After a lengthy, insightful conversation with Alexander, the traveling dragon finally came to the decision that he would stay as a permanent member of the Z'Arduani's ranks. He and Liema, the clan smith, became great friends. He also bonded with the clan's apothecary, Cordyline, through talk of his botanical findings across Sornieth. He shaved off his antlers and gathered a new, more fitting wardrobe fit for comfort rather than extensive wear. Jossal is now settled into his own home with the title of Clan Storyteller and Mapmaker. He tells great tales of his travels to hatchlings and adult dragons alike, and always attracts a rather large crowd when he starts up a new story. Tattooed on his wings is a map he personally drew of Sornieth, which he uses to describe his journeys in further detail.

None of the dragons in the clan make comments about his lack of a pearl, and they all accept him with open arms. His soul is now replaced by his passion for travels, and the love of his place within the Z'Arduani.
