Official Lightning Subspecies- Oil Slick
From dark places where no light is found,
Atlas has spent all his years alone.
Silence on the air,
And whispers in the darkness
taunting him in his prison.
Bruised and battered,
His years in that dungeon have left him docile,
Meek and quiet.
Never did he dream of seeing the world above.
It was Fairybell who brought him to the light.
A Sunbeam Paladin,
A Pearlcatcher far more beautiful
Than anything Atlas had ever known.
She speaks softly and kindly to him,
Her touch always gentle.
His heart always flutters in her presence.
Fairybell, his Fairybell.
Who liberated him from the claws of the Beastclan,
Teaching him to unfold his wings,
And unlock his heart.
Atlas cringes each time Fairybell's arranged Mate,
Sunbeam,
Lays a claw on her scales.
Perhaps Atlas is not quite to bright as the other glistening male,
And his feathers stink of tar and other fumes.
But his heart is sweet and true,
And he'd love his true match unconditionally,
Give her everything left in his weak form.
He has only now settled into the lair,
The Pearlcatcher arranging him a place close to the hearth.
She wrapped his wounds with gentle precision,
The plume of her tail sweeping against his side.
In coming days, the two are inseparable.
Night and day,
Light and dark.
Atlas cares nothing about breeding pairs,
Who cares if he and his love are different subspecies?
He promises that they'll nest one day,
Not for lovely hatchlings,
But for love.
