Biography
Typhoon

Typhoon was born with the heart of a warrior and thirst for battle. Immediately after popping out of the shell, he began to wrestle with his mother’s big claw. She didn’t move. It was winning, but he was still very small. He tried. Sadly he also hatched with the buoyant enthusiasm of a Tundra unleashed on a bed of Sugar Melons. His first “battle” lasted less than two minutes before he bounced over to his hatching sister and tried to play with her. She bit him on the end of the nose for his trouble because she was busy trying to get out of her own egg. That didn’t thwart him, and he stared at himself in the multi facets of one of the crystals lining his nest. He might have been enthralled longer had his father not picked him up by the scruff to break his line of sight. From that moment on, he tried to be a ferocious Wildclaw like his mother, but every time he tried to find an enemy to launch himself at, he got distracted. Typhoon, it appeared, was not going to be the sharpest tool in the chest. His Coatl father was responsible for looking after him most of the time and trying to keep him out of trouble. When he wasn’t wandering off to gobble down more squirrels which were too slow, he was hopping around behind members of the Clan jabbering insistently. It drove his birth clan to bristle fur, scales, feathers and fins. Some answered. Some didn’t. Some ignored him. One Nocturne sat on him. Typhoon, like his namesake, was a bottomless pit of questions, questions and more questions. Why was the sky the color it was? What were stars? Where did clouds go? Why was dark dark and did Light dragons really glow? If the deluge had come to any actual study the Clan might have had more patience, but half the time Typhoon lost interest in the conversation before it was finished or got distracted by something new which absorbed all his attention. It can't be said his parents didn't love him, but when he went bounding off after a roan mouse in his youth, no one tried especially hard to stop him. He had learned to hunt and fend for himself, but he fit poorly into the midst of the other Wildclaws. |

Happily blundering around and looking at the stars one evening, he didn't realize he'd strayed into territory held by the Beast Clans. One place was just the same as another to him, as long as there was food to eat. Typhoon might not have been much of a Wildclaw in some ways, but he proved that his heart belonged to the breed when some Harpys tried to harass him. They swarmed at him in a flock, but he thumped all of them before they had a chance to do any real damage. Lashing out with his strong hind feet and claws, there wasn't much left but mess and feathers. He reflected that was too bad, because he didn't necessarily want to fight. It was something to do. It also seemed very important to the other Wildclaws he'd met, but Typhoon was more intrigued in the interesting things they'd stashed away in their lair. They had a lot of rocks which caught the light in a way that pleased him. He spent a few minutes taking them out in the sun and pushing them one way or another so they caught the light. When that bored him he chased something else to eat. It escaped and he dug at the entrance of the hole it bolted down, but that made him lodge tiny pebbles and dirt under his claws. He didn’t much like that, and shook them up and down, occasionally flapping his wings to keep from falling over. They still felt funny, but he’d noticed the dark mouth of a cave when he was floundering around. Wondering if there might be some water where he could bathe his feet, he ambled inside and almost tripped over a hostile Fae named Fionn. Fionn fluffed frills at him and Typhoon touched the tip of one curiously, asking a few dozen questions. Fionn glared, flattening his frills, but an unlikely friendship was born. In spite of all his careful instruction about prestige and how Wildclaws fought alone, Typhoon was happy to accept Fionn as a battle brother. He declared the Fae must be a Wildclaw inside because of how fierce he was. That was more than enough to settle the matter as far as he was concerned, and the pair went romping around the Harpy's Roost. The stars were particularly bright there, if the monsters would just let a dragon stop and look at them once in awhile. The two rescued WyldFyre one particularly memorable day. Typhoon didn't think she was a Wildclaw inside, but by that point, he didn't care. The trio needed each other, and they got along most of the time. He liked having friends. |
