One claw stepped out into the snow followed by another until she had completely emerged from her family’s home. The only light was the reflection of the stars and moon on the snow below her feet. Her frosty eyes glimmered as she stared up at the colorful world of galaxies beyond her reach. It was her dream and so her wings took her forth to find the beings that made up the night sky. Eventually she tired of flying and settled back to the earth but she was far from home. With no recollection of how to return, Luna searched for a safe place to stay.


Ice crackled out from her palms as she wandered through a forest filled with shadows. Whispers taunted her but the curious nature she was born with kept her heart free from fear. She embraced the darkness when she could better trace the patterns that seemed to be guiding her in the stars above. As she stared up, she became distracted and crashed right into the sleeping head of another whose eyes popped open in surprise.


A little bit of ice had formed where she touched their snout but the older dragon shook it off with a chuckle and then ducked its large head down to see the young eyes of Luna. “You, whose eyes reflect a snowy night, are a curious one,” his deep voice rumbled. In a flurry of dark mist the dragon disappeared and an entrance in the trees opened up for her, darkness beckoning beyond it. Luna ventured in and was struck with the brilliance of her friend’s in the sky that shined like no where she had ever been for here in this clan’s home, darkness thrived.
