Biography
I am Sutachi, disgraced son of Inori from Clan Weronikiu. My father, an honored war veteran, was dedicated to exalting his children to the service of the Lightweaver; he was known to train his children for battle from as young as hatchlings, sometimes sending them to war without a Naming Ceremony. I was lucky to look weak as a newborn, leading my father to believe I needed training before exaltation.
I am a skilled tactician and combatist, trained in many types of weaponry and martial arts. But, I was never passionate about defending my Flight's honor and sending myself off to die for some "greater purpose"... I always wanted to be a painter. I often skipped training sessions with Inori to pursue my true calling, which led to many beatings down the line. Yet the day of my exaltation drew nearer and nearer, and I knew I had to escape.
With the aide of my mother, Tempest, who opposed the war and the unnecessary violence and death, I fled the night before my exaltation. I knew if I ever returned I'd be excommunicated from my community. So I took to wandering Sornieth's many lands, never settling down in any one place for too long. I worked as a prostitute on the streets for the gold I required to survive. I sent letters home to my mother every moon, in return she would send as much gold as she could take from the clan's hoard unnoticed. Life was rough for a long time.
The third time I wound up in Crystalspine was during an inclement winter, with as many storms as stars in the night sky. I was grounded, homeless, and seeking shelter anywhere I could when I came upon Chimera and Dorado inside a cave of gold. The inhospitable land had guided me into the arms of two of the most hospitable dragons in Sornieth. Chimera invited me to stay the winter in the Golden Cave, which I gladly accepted.
Winter passed, spring came, but I found it hard to leave the only friends I had ever had. So I decided to stay, and henceforth focus on my passion for painting and calligraphy instead of the day to day struggle of survival. We were stronger together, and finally free to be ourselves.
I paint the dragons of Clan Hiaresu and serve as Chimera's right wing. I travel often to paint landscapes of the most beautiful locations I can find in Sornieth but now with the knowledge I'll always have a home to return to in Crystalspine. The letters I write to my mother are artwork within words. She is proud of me, and I am proud to be her son.
Welcome to Clan Hiaresu.
