Biography
The Nature flight was beginning to celebrate spring -- the first crocuses and snowdrops were beginning to bloom after a long winter. Nests had been prepared; clutches were laid in preparation of the warm days to come.
But the Icewarden and his flight had other plans. One night, the frost crept across all of Sornieth as its inhabitants were settling down to sleep. Panicked, Nature and their allies joined forces to combat the encroaching Ice. Many dragons were sacrificed; many more were injured in the battle. All who could fight were called on to do so, leaving the Viridian Labyrinth nearly abandoned.
...except for a tundra named Dandelion. In the panic, nests had been abandoned and were quickly becoming too cold for the eggs to remain viable. So many clutches had already been laid! Hundreds of children would be lost! What was a dragon to do? Dandelion gathered as many eggs as he could find, keeping them warm under his fluffy fur coat and tunic. He cooed and talked to them softly, hoping to keep them safe until the others could return.
Outside, the battle raged, and ultimately the Icewarden was forced to retreat. Inside, the tundra and his eggchildren slept and stayed warm.
The next morning, Dandelion awoke to find the flowers still in bloom, the rivers still flowing, and the feel of warm sunlight. And beneath him... scratching? Tapping? Movement??
Alarmed, he looked down to see the eggs he'd been guarding full of cracks. Hatching day! Each hatchling was greeted by a big green tundra and dozens of other hatchlings, cuddling or tumbling across him. After the last of them had hatched, the Nature warriors at last began to return.
But where had all the eggs gone?? And when Dandelion and the hatchlings were finally found... whose baby was whose? By then, they all seemed to be "Dandelion's children" and after such a heroic effort, nobody could really say otherwise. It was deemed that these young ones were the Glademother's, having been born on such an eventful and victorious night.
The hatchlings were adopted by those who could care for them and those who had sacrificed much during the battle. These families were blessed by Glademother's spring babies, and the flight was eternally thankful for the tundra who stayed behind.
