Charybdis

Despite her fierce name, Charybdis is a quiet, gentle dragon. She is so reserved that for a long time the clan thought that she was mute. Her voice is shockingly lovely when she chooses to use it, like glass chimes ringing in a stiff sea breeze; its effect is prone to exaggeration due to its rarity. As is often the case with quiet, beautiful women, some of the younger, more excitable (and male) dragons of the clan imagine she has some terrible secret. It drives them wild trying to imagine what it could be. They watch her lonesome ramblings, her elegant profile turned to the west, and each wishes to be the one who unlocks the mystery of Charybdis.

She does not tell them it is only something as simple as homesickness. Charybdis is most at home in the sea surrounding the Starfall Isles, her home. She misses the faint tingling of arcane energy, the smell of salt in the air, and the pale stones that rose up to surround her. She misses the welcoming sensation of cool water lapping at her hide and the secretive beaches where she might doze for hours. Shadow is not the same, though her clanmates are very kind. They let her lie in the koi pond where the fish gently nibble her sides and give some illusion of life to the still, trapped water. One day she will return to her wild, Arcane beaches.
