Matilron

A small earth dragon needs a home, right? But not all of them have one.
Matilron did live in Greatwyrm's Breach for a time, as a hatchling. But he wasn't allowed there forever...


Young Matilron played in the crags with his friend, a brown tundra dragoness, leaping from crack to crack in the cliff face, stopping to peer into the larger ones, imagining monsters hiding in there. Rather than shying away from his imaginary foes, however, he pretended to fight them in his mind, and with his mind, clutching the pearl tightly as he concentrated on throwing imaginary bolts of magic at the rocks. His companion was not really playing this game with him, preferring examine the rocks instead of fighting them. But it was nice to be with someone.

"Matilron?"

He didn't immediately answer.

"Matilron?"

His mother appeared around a corner, flicking her tail disapprovingly. "Have you been playing Monster Battle again?"

Matilron slowly lowered his left foreleg, which had been poised to throw imaginary magic. That, and his glance at the rocks, gave it away.

His mother sighed. "Matilron, how many times do I have to tell you? Monsters are dangerous. They are not to be fought if one can help it." Then, half muttering to herself, she added, "How glad I am that we do not live in the Lightweaver's realm..."
