Tesla arrived on the Island as a wee hatchling. He was discovered floating in a coconut boat, obviously placed with loving care and surrounded by valuables, old treasure, and letters from his parents who were once royalty in another Clan. Tesla had been born into the unfortunate timing of an ensuing war. His parents knew they could not escape an inevitable capture and after a heart-wrenching night debating how to keep him alive and safe, made the anguishing decision to send him off into the warm Auric Sea. He was rightfully a prince, which made him a target of course. In the hopes of offsetting anyone with greedy intention, a spell was cast over the boat and it's contents, making it appear ragged and ordinary. The letters were penned in vanishing Maren ink, and only dragon tears could reveal the words hidden within what appeared to be plain parchment scroll.
When Shimmer stumbled upon tiny Tesla in his sea-worn vessel, she could not believe her eyes. She tenderly lifted the babe and brought him to her heart, where he clung tightly, desperately to her wing. She was overcome with love for the poor hatchling, and determined to reunite him with his family. Having no clues other than the tattered boat and mysterious contents, this soon proved impossible. One day, Shimmer's frustration over the blank parchment in her claws turned into deep sorrow for the young hatchling. Soon her tears spilled out to reveal a letter from Tesla's mother, a queen in despair who only wished for her beloved firstborn to have a life of freedom and love.
Shimmer vowed to protect Tesla with her life, and kept his secret to herself until his 100th birthday when he became an official adult. By this time, his native kingdom was no longer in existence, and his only hope of finding his family was through the ancients known as Spell Keepers. He entered a difficult Spell Keeper apprenticeship and has been patiently working his way through the years required to master the art. With long years of training yet to come, he holds close to his heart, Shimmer who raised him with motherly love, and the mysterious lost family with whom he dreams of a tender reunion.
