Scattersights: 2, first was unusual, wanted uncommon to fix change

This dragon is from a nest that was for a raffle (Svaeshtari), but when no one chose him was happy to take him in. He is on the large side for a spiral with a rather average wingspan and a ridiculous weight that I blame on him carrying a fair bit of random materials on him. He has very strong ridgeback blood in him, as well as a touch of skydancer.


A notorious theif, Archai is known for raiding clans, travelers, battlefields, and various marketplaces, seeking anything useful to him, and more specifically anything shiny, soft, or edible. He'll give most of it back, as he tends to lose interest in what he can't carry with him, while the rest of these objects are worn somewhere along his long body. He shows an unusual fondness for old key rings, and has never been observed getting rid of one.

Archai has been caught many a time, but no one can ever manage to hold on to him very long, not even the clan who attempted to take him in. So he remains a rogue, forever running from anything that may try to hold him back. To strangers he is closer to an animal than dragon, as he never speaks and shows no sign of understanding draconic. Instead he hisses and rumbles nonsensically at other dragons, and yet those who take the time to observe him more closely cannot doubt his intelligence. When the clan first brought him to lair he became known for exploring his new surroundings like a child might, picking up every foreign object and looking at them with a tireless fascination. And when he thinks he is alone with his cave jewel, from whom he is inseparable, the occasional dragon has seen him communicating with her in a bewildering array of sign language.

Under Aural's instruction the clan crafted and presented the spiral with tanned leather garments filled with the small pouches and pockets that he seemed to adore, and he immediately seemed to recognize what they were for and adorned them. He disappeared days later, though few in the clan were surprised or worried about him. He returns to their territory from time to time, and the clan falls into the habit of leaving supplies unguarded for as long as his elusive presence is known. The spiral seems to have caught on overtime, and on occasion leaves little gifts of his own.

-He calls his familiar Jewel because he thinks of her as his crown jewel and she is the most precious thing he'll ever steal. Over the course of their bond she has become just as intelligent as he is and at times seems to be the more sensible one. T She also has a better grasp of light magic than he does, able to cast bolts and emit bright flashes, while the best he can usually do is uncontrolled sparks. They share a telepathic link that's mostly a vague sense of the other's location and emotions, though either can pull on it to get the other's attention. Archai can also see through her eyes, though doing so puts him in a vulnerable position because he'll be less aware of his own body.

-values Jewel's safety even more than his own and goes berserk if she is threatened, though he's otherwise more likely to bolt than take a fight

-extremely dexterous and stealthy, only particularly observant dragons can keep track of him, and even they would have a hard time keeping a hold of him.

-His vocal cords were ruined in a childhood accident, so he can't speak coherent draconic very well, and generally doesn't try.
