Biography

Plucked from the claws of his dying kin, Tharn has been taken closely under hand by Safkas, and all but been named heir to the clan.

He has been taught the art of war, both with fang and talon by Essorant and with searing magicks by Safkas. He has been taught, also, the follow things: that his fur is red with the blood of his kin, that he lay in the pools of the dying for days after hatching, that his egg's thaw was itself brought on by the heat of the bodies surrounding him. That for him to live, his family had to be sacrificed to the Arcanist and the Plaguebringer, and that he has been chosen.

Named for the state his infrequent, cold laugh produces in others—a fear that freezes a dragon in place. At his master's side he walks, often silent, and yet when he speaks in short tones it becomes clear that beneath the cracked blood and ice there lies a truly serene, unknowable, and morally impenetrable creature.
