Blindness has never been a problem. He has always known where he is going, where everything is going, to be honest. It is simple to look into what will come, though it is not always certain. The one thing he has always known is that he would come to the lair of thorns. And he was the first to arrive after the official founding of the clan. The others had been surprised that a blind dragon had come seeking them on his own, but explaining his gift - his curse - had cleared up the misunderstanding.

Iitahrasey believes in fate and destiny, and sometimes is all too willing to enable it. He warns the clan of coming disasters and threats from rival clans, certainly. But he did not deliver warning for the coming of Inlé and what she would bring with her. Nor did he say anything about those who would follow in her wake, whether drawn to the darkness or attempting to fight it.


"A storm comes," he says, glassy eyes settled on his mate, "you should wait until tomorrow." He has seen that no serious harm will befall her, but her fur will be soaked, and she does so detest that.

Luciryu groans, and her feathers ruffle as she bumps his side. "But we need to know where that rat came from. Even those blasted imperials agree that something is wrong." Her voice is whining, she doesn't actually want to go, but it's been put off for a few days already. Iitahrasey would still prefer that she stayed in their lair. Knowing where the gaoler came from will do nothing for them. She is already here, and it is already too late.

"I don't quite see why knowing her origin will help in any way. Thailyn has already said that she stays, and Kirosth agrees with her, so it's not like we can send her back, and she's already nested here anyway."

His mate snarls, and he imagines that she has bared teeth at the world, frustrated. "I know. But Aurofaen and Ruth have been here since the beginning, and they're nervous. And anything that puts them on edge is something worth worrying about." He nods placatingly, needing to circumvent any further disagreement, and presses his face to hers. She settles a bit at the touch and sighs. "Are you sure it's going to rain?"

A nod, "Most certainly. The clouds move in just after midday."

To his surprise, she lurches to her feet and strides away from him, grabbing her pack as she goes. "I'll be fast then, I've got a few hours before I get wet. And I do like to listen to the thunder." She is a lightning dragon after all.

He knew that he would not be able to convince her to stay, to put off what will come for any longer. But he felt that he should try. Luciryu is his mate, destined to spend her life at his side, and he at hers, and it would not do for them to be at odds over something so simple as the Shade. Its presence in the clan will not change their lives overmuch. Inlé would not allow for that; they are much too important to her goals.

As his mate goes out to trace back the trail left by the newcomer, he bids her a fond farewell, and hopes that she will not return with wet feathers.
