Biography

Lightning Subspecies: POISONED SPIRES: the Engines of the Lightning Farm
Breeds: Any

Lore: As you travel through the vastness that is the Shifting expanse, one cannot help but marvel at the many and varied golden wing-like shapes channelling energies hither and yon. Occasionally though, you would swear that some of these spires move. Despite being laughed at, or chided for being paranoid when talking about such incidents, many cannot shake the feeling that they are not alone out there amongst the Spires of the Lightning Farm.

Which is probably because they aren't alone! No one is really sure where these creatures come from. They take the shape of all breeds, and are somewhat varied in base colouring. Their most striking features are their blindingly brightly Faceted Golden Wings and aGreenish, Bluish, or Purple glow that seems to jump between wingtips and across their bodies. When standing still, partly covered by wind blown debris or minor rock falls, they appear almost identical to the other Lightning Spires around them, golden wing shapes pointed to the sky.

They appear on the horizon where no Spires were the day before, moving in the poor twilight of dawn and dusk. Upon investigating sighting locations, great machines and cables are found where once stood rocky hillocks or dry gulches. Othertimes, Spires in disrepair become cleaned and shining again overnight, crackling with renewed purpose and power.

Those in the know have many theories as to their origin. Some have theorised that they are automatons, created by some long lost clan in a great experiment of unknown purpose. Others have speculated that after absorbing and directing so much energy that they have become self sentient, or were activated by the Stormcatcher himself! A growing opinion is that they are Dragons like themselves, the unwitting victims of the Spires seeking to create more of their own by poisoning the unwary or unwise. Regardless of the actual truth of their origins, all who cross paths with them come to call them by the same name: they are POISONED SPIRES, the Engines of the Lightning Farm.
