APOLO
"You, O Books, are the golden vessels of the temple, burning lamps to be ever held in the hand." -Richard de Bury Apolo is a secretive dragon whose greatest aspiration is to become a world-famous magician. His obsession began when he was a young hatchling, and he stumbled upon a book of magic that had been carelessly dropped by a clumsy sorcerer. Barely having opened his eyes, he miraculously understood every word of the mystical tome. He read it day and night until he had finished all 1,286 pages, amazing the rest of his clan. Apolo cemented his position as a magician when he somehow managed to fend off a hoard of attacking Beastclan using only a few spells. Apolo is respected among his clanmates older and younger, mainly for his vast knowledge of things and great detail in telling about them. Those who know him well praise his philosophical way of thinking and the intriguing, intelligent conversations he can hold for hours at a time. But while Apolo is always in pursuit of knowledge and answers to questions, he can sometimes go too far in his quest for knowledge. He doesn't really have a limit to his thirst for knowledge; he allows it to consume it, to control him and overtake his every decision. There have been many times where Apolo was seriously hurt in an attempt to find the answer, and there have been even more times where he has broken things on accident. There are just so many things he doesn't know in the world. Maybe some things are better left unknown, but don't tell Apolo that; he'll go on an hour-long speech about his own curiosity. Apolo is always available whenever anyone wants to talk with him about the mysteries of the universe. His nest is nearly crammed full with various texts and materials with alchemical properties. Sometimes, there isn't enough space for him to sleep there, but that's irrelevant. He spends most of his time experimenting with new spells, writing down new information or helping his clanmates solve some sort of magic-related problem. "So... Can you get rid of it?" "..." Apolo frowned, staring at the offending object. It was a cursed lock, attached to one of his clanmates' tails as a prank by a playful hatchling. Unfortunately, as the victim and prankster learned the hard way, the lock was legitimately inhabited by the vengeful spirit of a Wartoad. The lock had refused to come off, burning anyone that tried to remove it. The dragon yelped as its tail was scorched again by the angry lock. Apolo shook his head and flipped to another page of his spellbook. "It will come off, just let me find the right spell for this." Apolo said, not looking up. "Meanwhile, the rest of you just keep the ice on it." His clanmates nodded, not moving the ice from the poor dragon's tail. The hatchling looked down at the ground, flushing with shame and guilt. Noticing the young dragon's embarrassment, Apolo put down the book and headed towards it. "It was an accident," the miserable hatchling moaned, covering its face with its paws. Apolo sat down next to it, curling one wing around the young dragon. "It's okay, accidents happen." He said gently. This seemed to console the dragon a bit, and Apolo quickly returned to looking through the text. As his eyes skimmed the pages, he saw what he was looking for; an anti-curse charm. "Here, I found it. Stand back." The other dragons dispersed as soon as they heard his words. Chanting, Apolo threw a light powder over the dragon's tail. As the other dragons watched in awe, the lock dissolved in an instant, leaving only a fine mist in the air. The dragons clapped as the victim shook Apolo's hand gratefully. Apolo smiled and turned to see the hatchling, who had a look of relief and gratitude. Satisfied with his work, Apolo prepared to pack his things and return to his studies. As he turned to leave, another dragon came running in the distance. Apolo looked with mild surprise as the dragon explained his story. "My friend is stuck to the wall, and it's cursed. We think it's trying to eat him. Please hurry!" Yep, this seemed like an average day. By. Valka
