Abandoned as an egg, Jae spent most of her life exploring the Viridian Labyrinth, drawn to something though she didn't know what. Without the guide of a Guardian clan, she had no idea that she was on the lifelong journey of The Search. She found Meelo, a Mirror dragon who had been left by his clan as a hatchling, and realized that she had been looking for him her whole life. Overjoyed at finding what she would learn to be her charge, she began her own clan at the edge of the Gladeveins. Jae and Meelo built sheltered nests in the high branches of trees that acted as the border for the Shrieking Wilds. This way, they could be close enough to the Gladeveins to get fresh water, but away from the predators that were often drawn there. She remained at the top of the social hierarchy and was looked up to by many of the dragons in her new family.

Shortly after settling with Meelo, Jae met Kejaro and Qualei, a male Guardian and a female Fae, who had been trying to escape the Shrieking Wilds for weeks. With her friend badly injured, Qualei begged Jae to let them join her clan. Jae accepted, happy to let another Guardian become part of her family. However, after Kejaro healed, Jae demanded that Qualei leave the clan, suspicious of having a Shadow dragon in her clan. But the two dragons had become closely bonded in their journeys and Kejaro refused to stay in Jae's clan if Qualei would be forced to leave. With the encouragement of Meelo, Jae reluctantly allowed Qualei to stay with her clan and the Fae promised to be loyal only to her. Qualei proved her worth and became the main strategist for the new family, while Kejaro took on the job of Blacksmith, crafting new additions to the elevated homes of the clan.

The new family became even closer when Meelo discovered an abandoned egg on a scouting mission. He and Jae hatched and raised the female Mirror, Remara, as their own after exalting their first clutch of eggs to Gladekeeper, as was the custom of the Nature flight. The pair encouraged her to join Qualei and Kejaro as the main defense team for the clan and she grew to be one of the best fighters the clan had ever seen.

The clan continued to grow as more and more dragons joined Jae and her family, making them a closely bonded group.

Years of traveling alone made it hard for Jae to be surrounded by dragons who needed someone to safely lead them. Meelo became her sole support structure and acted as her second-in-command when she needed him. The steadfast friendship of Qualei and Kejaro helped her to see her ability to lead and help those around her. Jae continues to oversee her clan and remains in control as the dominant dragon.
