Biography

With a wiggle and a poke, the little dragon climbed out of the recently cracked shell of her egg. It had been her home and sanctuary, and she blinked uncertainly in the newfound daylight. As her eyes adjusted, she turned her head right and then left. Where a mother should have been, nurturing and caring the new hatchling, there was no one. The dragon gave a scared and pitiful cry. Slowly, not knowing what else to do, she began to crawl backwards to her egg again. As if she could repair the shell and curl up inside once more. It was the desperate plan of a hatchling who didn’t know what else she could possibly do.

As she approached her egg, the dragon heard a voice. She lifted her head, hopeful to have found her mother at last, but the area remained empty. Still, the voice called to her. An image flashed in her mind of a majestic dragon. Trees grew from its back and leaves covered the frame. In her mind, this dragon’s head turned towards the hatchling, and once more she heard the call. “Come,” it beckoned. “I will show you the way.”

The little dragon heeded the call. She crawled away from her egg once more, and began walking. Her steps were slow and hesitant at first, but guided by the voice she felt herself becoming more confident. Her nest was left far behind, and she continued to walk. She wasn’t sure how far she had gone or how long she had traveled, but eventually she felt herself wearing down. Tired, hungry, and weak she took one more step, and found herself in a beautiful garden. “You are home,” the voice said in her mind, and the image of the majestic dragon smiled.

From behind a tree came a green Spiral. She watched as he approached her, and examined her weakened condition. “I am Jabuka,” he said. “You are home.” Hearing him echo the words of the beautiful Gladekeeper, she knew he was right. Bitterfang was home.

From those humble beginnings, Jabuka nursed her back to health. Bitterfang grew to be a strong-willed dragon, and eventually leader of the clan. It was her decree that any lost dragon searching for a home would find one with her.
