Rubus was born to a Guardian father and Skydancer mother in the Nature flight. His father was known to be... harsh. He and his brother often spent time together, enjoying each other's company. They were extremely close, becoming each other's best friend. It wasn't until Rubus' brother was exalted that he truly became how he was. He found out the news from his father, who seemed uncaring of the fact. Rubus had many siblings, but none were as close with him as Ricky. He took the news hard to say the least. He vowed his hatred towards his home and left without another word, isolating himself for months afterwards.

Venturing into the rest of the world brought interesting experiences. As much as he tried to get along with people, he found himself clashing with them constantly. He found out his gift for secrecy and tactics, drifting from place to place until he wandered across the up and coming Dulcis Vita clan. He found that while he and the leader had very different ideals, he had a respect for those there. His protective nature finally had something to transfer to, and while it took quite a while for him to admit his attachment, he never wavered from his loyalty. From then on, he used his knowledge to help his clan, though always tended to have a bit of a sarcastic edge...

Rubus ended "allying" himself with Rill, a dragon who had also come there recently. He knew little about the others there, but there had been a strong distance between him and the clan leader, Saccharon, already. They grew close, and Rubus unwittingly ended up depending on her heavily. She was kind, nurturing, and knew just what to say. He knew she had a darker side, but she was such a part of his life at that point that there was nothing he wanted more than to stay with her. As she grew more and more manipulative, she was isolated from the others, taking Rubus with her. Still, he gladly remained at her side, and even now he considers her his only true companion.

Rubus keeps to himself for the most part, keeping distance between himself and others. His son, Vinograd, was pushed away from him as soon as he was born. At that point, Rubus knew that he would never be a suitable father nor would Rill make a good mother and wanted more for his son. He was raised by Halloween, and to this day the two don't talk very much. Neither particularly view the other as family, though Rubus someday wishes he could speak with his son normally and maybe create some kind of family. In the mean time, he remains at Rill's side while also holding his place at the top of the clan. He knows the animosity held towards him due to his opinion of Saccharon, but he doesn't really care anymore. He never particularly cared for the personality of the other dragon, finding him too passive and unguided. While he has no plans on taking the clan for himself, he wouldn't be surprised to find himself backing Rill should she take matters into her own hands...
