The second-worst kept secret of clan Snastle is that Nephrite is the clan's spy. Everyone knows that she gathers intel for the clan to assist in their roamings across the continent, both for safety and to make the most of trade opportunities and gain wealth. Not necessarily any kind of malicious information, but any happenings that might assist or interest the clan.

However, this doesn't mean she is spurned on her unsubtle travelings through Sornieth. On the contrary she is invited, for the only secret more well known than her profession is the fact that Nephrite can't resist warm apple cider, and when the intoxicating beverage begins to flow, she begins to talk.
In taverns, homes and palaces she is invited for 'dinner', always accompanied by a goblet that never seems to be allowed to run empty. Secrets flow as fast as the cider, both to Nephrite and from her, the silly, jolly Snapper never realizing she's been taken advantage of.

And what is the best kept secret of Clan Snastle?

That Nephrite is merely a decoy. The clan's spy network has always been maintained by another. Nobody would believe that the clan had no spies at all, but everyone readily accepts that the pacifistic group could have an incompetent one, so nobody needs to try and uncover the true intelligence gatherer. Additionally, the clan has the perfect outlet for spreading the information they need to distribute. Frame any piece of information as a juicy secret and have Nephrite 'accidentally' spill it, and word will spread faster than if she had nailed a poster to every tree in the Viridian Labyrinth.
