Dionysus. A name in Iayu's clan that is oftentimes met with groans and stern looks. While many of the dragons in the clan call themselves Kings, Queens, Princes, what-have-you, Dionysus takes it a step further. He calls himself a God. There's no real proof that he's not. Hatched from a randomly found egg, without parents, Dionysus could very well be a direct son to the Arcanist. And he plays that up to the extreme. A notorious trickster, he pulls pranks on those around him, creating situations that intend to set up, embarrass and annoy. Many of the dragons complained to Iayu, long ago, but her answer was simple. "Until he hurts someone, he can stay." This was a poor choice of words, it seems. Many of the older dragons of the clan began to counter-prank Dionysus, attempting to hurt themselves and place the blame on him. But they soon discovered that Dionysus knew the game much, much better than they did - not only did he escape any kind of blame, but the dragons found their pranks rendered harmless in even the most dangerous situations. They had a newfound respect for him, but he was still as annoying as ever. However, admiration and acceptance was just around the corner, thanks to one horrendous experience. Situated on the edge of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Iayu's clan thought they were safe from attack on at least one side. Unfortunately, the attack came from the sea. A massive, 3 headed Emperor - apparently created deep under the waves after the dead bodies of Imperials had been dumped - rose up and attacked mindlessly. Dionysus was the one who came up with the plan. He somehow managed to trick the giant beast into turning away from the clan, taking it into deeper water. The Wind and Lightning dragons of the lair created great columns of electrified water spouts, trapping the Emperor in its track - but the beast was far too strong for those mere dragons. In that moment, Dionysus discovered his latent power - shapeshifting into a massive serpent, big enough to make even the Windsinger blink in surprise. Newfound power and strength, he was able to coil around the Emperor and with the help of the clan, destroy it without the help of the gods. From that point onwards, Dionysus was... Well, respected was a bit strong, but more tolerated, for sure. He still caused more than enough grief for his clanmates, though - shapeshifting put a new spin on old tricks, and certainly helped make more than a few new headaches... |
