Main Theme: I Can't Decide

______ He couldn't remember a time when he wasn't tortured by nightmares. He had no parents and no companions, and some days he wondered how he had survived his hatchling days, but others he simply prided himself on the fact that he was still alive. Or, mostly, anyway. He had always thought that he was perhaps part demon, but that wasn't something he planned to share.

______ In Mirroasque's eyes, being alone was best not only because it meant he had no strings tying him again, but also because he wasn't subject to any clan laws that way. Whenever he stayed a night or two on some clan's hospitality, he watched their mediators and judges with bored curiosity. Organization, rules, all of it just didn't suit Mirroasque, and so he never stayed one place for long. He went where he wanted, said what he wanted, and killed whom he wanted.

And yet, that little demon part of him seemed to draw others to him like hatchlings to a stall of sweet treats. They never said much, but he could tell that there was something about him that they couldn't resist, no matter how off-putting his personality was. As time went by, he allowed his nightmares to drive him closer and closer to the brink of... something. All he knew was that it made him less and less amiable; his speech came sporadically and often came out in threats. He felt ill and misliked the world around him. His only satisfaction was the feeling of his claws sinking into squirming prey. And the whole time, he didn't even know if he liked it or not.

It was during one of his worse days that he stumbled unwittingly into the Hidden Haven. He looked warily at the creatures around him, flanks heaving. He could smell frightening magic here, a scent not unlike his own, and he did not want to cross it. The internal fight between the desire to launch himself at the nearest weakling and rip at them, or stand his ground, drove him to the floor, clawing at his head and groaning.

The next time he woke up, Hidden Haven was his home.
