Asri is a swordmaster and guardian to the Refuge, but he has declined to join the Keepers in an official role. He often schools new recruits, training them alongside the pilgrims he escorts through the Mire, and occasionally will join the Keepers during Beastclan and Dominance raids. He is patient and persistent, but his trainees would never go so far as to call him kind.

Asri has a patchwork and obscured history, and it is not clear if the Refuge is his final home or simply another stop on his winding journey. Only Silun, and perhaps Illarûn in her strange way, knows much of his story. When others ask, they are regaled with increasingly wild tales, which are never the same twice. Truthfully, his past is much tamer than he will admit.
