She walked among the pink tulips, a breeze ruffling both her fur and the petals. The bow on her tail stood out among the other colors, a neon cyan. She blinked her shockingly blue eyes, and smiled in remembrance as she picked some flowers. It was the day her mother had passed many years ago, and she wished to bring her a gift. She grabbed a few, held carefully between her claws. Looking up, Windfall rose to the sky, taking care to not disturb any flora.

The sky was a blue like her eyes today; a sweltering, summer blue that made you want to go dive in the cool creek beneath the bamboo. There were no clouds, and it was a perfect day. The Princess was flying to the city first, where she would have lunch. She wasn’t sure what to get; roast beef, salmon, steak, or maybe, a fruit salad?

While pondering this, she came upon a small village below her. It looked very peaceful, smoke twisted from the roofs of houses and the streets were paved with a clean and creamy tile. Suddenly, she saw a hatchling. It was in the middle of the road and was crying out for its mother, while dragons began to surround it. They were huge, black and red, and had spines all down their backs.

Windfall spiraled down and landed in the middle of the circle, by the hatchling. “What are you doing?” She asked, in a biting manner.

The largest one, with a piercing in his tongue, laughed in a loud way. “What are we doing? We’re just taking this hatchling to go serve our boss. We always need new recruits. Go on now, shoo.” He waved her away, and she moved away from his talons but not from the hatchling.

“No! You aren’t supposed to do that, how about you go away? This hatchling just wants its mother, not to serve your boss!” Her eyes flashed with barely contained anger.

“You can’t stop us, sweetie!” He backhanded her, and she flew backwards into the other bad dragons.

With a roar, she screamed, “YOU’LL REGRET THAT!” Leaping up from the ground she punched the leader in the face and kicked him several times in the stomach; also raking her claws down his side. She whipped her heavy tail around in the circle, and knocked over all of the remaining dragons. With a snarl she kicked the biggest one once more while he was down, not showing any mercy.

“Get out of this village!” She spat. He scrambled out the back entrance fearfully and all of his friends followed him.

Windfall glared at them until they were out of sight, then turned to the hatchling, who was crying.“I’m sorry that had to happen to you. Here.” She petted its head and handed it the flowers.

The hatchling sniffled and looked up at her, happy.
