Biography

I CAME HERE TO GET SOME PEACE
WAY DOWN DEEP WHERE THE SHADOWS ARE HEAVY

x.x.personality | Emotionless and without conscience. Could any more be expected of the undead? In a perfect world, souls could be recalled with a wish, but in reality death is far from the control of mortal beings. Sylvane is the living...er, undead example of what happens when one meddles with the souls laying on the precipice of the astral world. Animated, breathing, and bleeding--she looks as dragon as any other mirror. But there is a hollowness in her gaze from eyes that fail to see the significance in the world around them. She doesn't speak, she doesn't express self-awareness, there is not even evidence that she feels anything beyond hunger and fatigue.

Because of this, she is paired constantly with a Gloomwillow guide, whose faint, dancing light is a hypnotic beacon for the feral mirror in order to keep her from wandering in with the clan's population. If not properly watched (or kept fed), there is a bit of a risk of children going missing. Sammanus, as is his habit, keeps her a secret from the clan. If only they knew all the dangers their supposed Ministry of Sages kept hidden from them.

I DON'T WANT TO REST IN PEACE
I'D RATHER BE THE GHOST THAT ANNOYS YOU

x.x.history | Exactly what part of Sylvane's history merits explanation? When you are 'born twice', one has to wonder if the first life really counted. You see, she was born some years ago in a clan from the deepest parts of the Tangled Wood--the same clan that Dominic, the Requiem's former King, had been born into. The very same clan that was overcome and destroyed when the Beastclans rose against the dragons. Very little is known about Sylvane, except that she and Dominic were of a certain...'closeness', and they fled their destroyed home together.

But only Dominic was discovered by the Requiem's scavenger's, broken and bleeding in the snow, and brought in to the clan for sanctuary. He spoke nothing of having a comrade, fallen or otherwise. But eventually, he would claim the Requiem's throne and when every soul there was wrapped tightly around his fingers did he bring the corpse of a small, dainty mirror to the feet of Sammanus, the Necromancer.

Sam dipped in to the astral plane as one does a honey pot, drawing out infinite knowledge and otherworldly powers. It was his craft, after all. But to bring back a soul? Dragonkind shivers at the thought, knowing the downcast gaze of their Gods watch them commit such a sin. The God King felt that he was just
that, a God, whose word was absolute. Hesitant, but obedient, Sammanus did as he was told. Ancient books and scrolls contained only fragmented suggestions on how one brings back a life, but Sammanus was able to decipher the tidbits and perform the dark, shady ritual that would bring breath back to the frozen corpse that was once Sylvane of the shadow flight.

When she heaved that first breath and exhaled wintry fog, a dull light came to her eyes and blood coarsed through her veins once again. Two sets of fascinated eyes looked upon her, and her four looked back at them. She was as young as she was the day of her death, far behind Dominic in years now. With a hiss and feral swipe, she curled her back at the miscreants and shrieked with an uncultured rage. It quickly became obvious that this being had no intelligence, no personality, no spirit. The God King turned away and left the necromancer with his new burden, a wild mirror devoid of the very thing that makes her part of dragonkind.

Since Dom would have nothing to do with her now, the mancer made her his pet and she lays coiled up in his study, hissing at visitors and devouring twice her weight in meat in a little over a month. If kept corralled by her Gloomwillow Guide and the Shadowbinder's Acolyte, she is of good use when there is a skirmish between the clan and the beastclans for resources and a 'special' task force is called for. If Sammanus didn't know any better, he'd think she had some memory of their raid on her former clan, for all the fervent rage and unfiltered brutality that she can unleash upon them.
