Her parents couldn't seem to recall laying any eggs. And yet, there they were. Two identical girls, staring up that them with large, golden eyes. They seemed normal enough. Playing in the dirt, fluttering as they learned how to fly, mumbling their first words in Coatl. Normal, healthy hatchlings. Their mother, a healer, made sure of that. It was undeniable that they were theirs - the resemblance was uncanny. Still, despite the apparent normalcy, there was something mildly off-putting about the sisters. The hatchlings knew none of this, of course. They were young - too young to perceive any difference between them and the other hatchlings. Even an adult would be hard-pressed to name the exact oddness of the pair. Their parents went through the motions, dreamlike. Clanmates congratulated them for a successful hatching. How scatterbrained of me, they all thought, to not notice a clanmate was expecting! Lilith took after her father in many ways. He was a dancer, she was a wordsmith and an actress. Much of her time was spent thinking up quaint stories and roping in her sister to act in them. Word spread quickly to her clanmates of their little productions, and soon Lilith was able to gather a modest crowd for the "opening night" of any of her skits. That wasn't the only way she took after her dad. Like him, she could care less about dusty, old books or, for that matter, sitting still. It caused her teachers considerable angst. There is never a dull moment around Lilith, and it took more than her fair share of extra help to learn to speak and read draconic. The time came for Lilith to leave her birth clan. Her parents were secretly glad. Her childhood had been calm, but something dark was brewing and as much as they loved her, they would rather not be around when it burst.
