Being hatched on the constantly shifting ice flows of the Southern Icefields doesn't sound like a promising start for a gardener. That's where Dryad managed to evade all the odds, moving to an allied nature clan and finding his place among their best gardeners. As a small noodle hatchling, he fell into place under the head gardeners and learned as much from them as he could. Still aloof and distant, as is customary to ice dragons, he kept his distance from all the dragons he learned from. It wasn't until the enigmatic wine maker Merlot appeared in the clan that Dryad found his true place.

Merlot's little cottage is connected to a vast garden of berries and various fruits. It is inside this garden that Dryad spends his time, coiled in the vines and under the verdant leaves. Often he will tend to the plants, healing the sick and plucking fruit if Merlot has told him to. Otherwise he basks in the living forest around him and allows all manner of life to perch on his scales.

Life isn't always peaceful in the Wine Garden. Every so often there is a hatchling or adolescent dragon who thinks its a good idea to sneak into the garden and steal fruit. Dryad appears as if from nothing, rising up like a snake and frightening away most would-be vandalists. He nis not above using physical force to remove the tresspassers and as such is not one to be trifled with. When threatened, Dryad can be a frightening creature.

"He's the center post. Holds up the tent.
STRAIGHT STRONG NOODLE TREE."
