Biography

Talora, The Frozen

Emotionless | Pragmatic | Reliable
Cursed Legacy First Heir

Furry Icewarden Puppet Talora was always considered a tragic child. With her mother abandoning her and her father considered a disgrace to his kind, Talora spent the majority of her childhood in the care of her grandmother. Due to the way she spoke in monotones and didn't seem emotionally involved in anything, she wasn't able to have stong relationships with anyone. Her search ended the same day it began when Pinkerton gifted her an Icewarden plush, nobody in the clan was surprised at the form her charge took.

When a travelling spiral named Sebastian approached Talora for directions, nobody thought anything of it. After spending many of the following days in each other's company, Talora abruptly moved out of her grandparent's lair and began building one of her own. Sebastian soon was helping her and the whole clan was excited at this development, even though Talora seemed indifferent to the Spiral's aide. 10758.png

"You're a Great Grandmother." Talora hadn't seen Cera for nearly a month after she moved out, so her greeting was a bit jarring. "I would like you to care for them in case something happens to me."

"Is this about the curse?" Cera looked up at the eerie red pendant around Talora's neck and visibly shuddered. She turned to the eggs and lovingly touched each one in turn. "I know you; you wouldn't do anything to these children."

"Yes, the curse. I'm not sure if it'll behave the same way once the eggs hatch, but I want you to be prepared." Talora looked impassively at the eggs.

"Talora, I thought we'd discussed the possibility that the curse was invented to deal with... what happened in the Icefields." Cera sighed and nodded. "Yes, if something happens I'll look after them. But what about Sebastian?"

"I can see the wanderlust in the way he paces near the outer path or the way his claws keep reaching for his pack. It won't be long before he sets off again."

Cera nodded and quickly turned to leave, but Talora could see the tears the Tundra was trying to hide. She sighed and adjusted some twigs on the nest.

Sebastian returned from a two day trip when the eggs hatched. He spent the first day regaling the hatchlings with tales of his travels. For Mei and Meera he gifted them sashes of the finest pink silks he'd ever traded for. For Meldrik he had a bright red hat.

The next day Sebastian and Talora took the three out to meet the clan. Talora hung around in the back while Sebastian excitedly bounced around and introduced them to everyone they passed by. Eventually they made their way to the lair of Cera and Zerius.

Zerius was resting in the afternoon sun and turned his head to watch their approach. "I thought the clan was extra noisy today," he grumbled. "I guess you three are the cause."

The hatchlings halted and Mei actually took a step backwards.

"Ignore this grump, he's just jealous of how cute you are." Cera gave Zerius a thump on his side. "Come in! I have some treats for you!" She ushered the group inside.

Talora felt the closest she ever had to happiness.

"Where are Mei and Meera!?"

Sebastian's yell woke Talora up from her afternoon nap with the hatchlings. She looked at Meldrik who was asleep next to her with one foot on the pendant and then at the spot where the girls had been sleeping. There was only the crumpled blanket they'd been on.

"I'm going to ask around if anyone's seen them. You go see if they're at Cera's." Sebastian left without waiting for Talora's reply.

Talora tried to move Meldrik so she could get up, but he curled around the pendant and wouldn't wake up. Not wanting to waste time, she slid it off her neck and planned to leave it there. The pendant began to glow softly, something she could vaguely remember from months ago. Then it all came flooding back as the pendant became brighter: her mother passing on the necklace and leaving.

"What does it mean, mother?"

Talora blinked in surprise at Meldrik, who was now awake and wearing the pendant. She never really understood the uneasiness Cera said the pendant made her feel until looking at it around her son's neck. "What does what mean?"

"You said 'until the pendant clears, only one shall stay that you hold dear.' What did you mean?"

Before Talora could answer, Sebastian came back. In between breaths he asked, "Were they at Cera's?"

Talora didn't need to check with Cera to know they weren't there. "No. And we won't ever find them."

"What do you mean? Did you even look?" Sebastian was beginning to tie himself into knots out of frustration.

"The curse has passed on to Meldrik." Talora watched Sebastian's distraught expression turn to rage.

"I told you that's nonsense!" He started packing his travel satchels. "Fine, I will go out and find them myself. And when I do, I'll prove to you that this curse is all in your head!" He finished packing and left without a backwards glance.
