Xandra The Wisher Holds the Clan's wishlist It was a blinding morning despite the foggy haze that covered the mountains in the far distance, with the near-rising sun glinting off the ice fields. While the Sagittarius Clan slept in, a shape shifted in the shadows. As if a sudden storm of flurries had appeared, the dappled white Skydancer moved swiftly between the dens and nests of her Clanmates. Xandra worked while the others slept, and she found that it was in the early hours of the day - just as her Clanmates were waking from their rest - that she had the best results. It must be at this time of day when dragons' wishes were most prominent in their thoughts. Sometimes, though, she also found good wishes just after noon, as dragons finished their mid-day meals and returned to their work. Xandra enjoyed her own work. She was able to read her Clanmates’ emotions and through a process of trial-and-error, she could find their heartfelt wishes and desires. She tried not to pry as she did her work, but it was difficult. That was what her magic enabled her to do. Still, she wanted to respect her Clanmate’s privacy and so she never approached a dragon for what she found them wishing for. She just recorded it, writing it down and ensuring it remained safe in her own study. Often when another dragon was looking for the perfect birthday or anniversary gift for another, they would come to her for help. She never showed another dragon her list, but she was always happy to help them find the right present, fulfilling wishes as much as she could. Now, Xandra paused outside a den with bright floral murals painted over the gray rock. It was Miu’s nest. Xandra tilted her head, her antennae wiggling in the air as she read her Clanmate’s emotions: Miu was dreaming of the Viridian Labyrinth once again, with warm sunshine and lush undergrowth, and a heavy humidity in the air. Xandra gave a slight nod, marking something down on the papyrus she held in her paws, before moving on. It wasn’t often that her Clanmates’ wishes changed suddenly. It was their innate desire, sometimes something they didn’t even know they wanted, that Xandra could feel. When it did change dramatically, though, Xandra was always curious and ready to study why. “Well, that’s the last one for this morning,” the white Skydancer murmured to herself. She started back to her den. Now, for the rest of the morning, she needed to transcribe today’s notes to her larger notebook, a folded scroll containing the official history of fulfilled and failed wishes in the Clan. Xandra’s eyes glinted at the day’s work. Yes, she loved her job.
