Role

Paprika doesn't feel the need to reside permanently in Caspar's forge to craft her pottery - she'd feel guilty for using his flames when she's perfectly capable of producing more than enough for her purposes. She doesn't like to take up much space, either - a potter's wheel and a small table is all she requires to produce delicate bowls and vases that fetch very high prices among those who know what they're looking for. Paprika is also alarmingly good at making duplicates of famous works, but that's a skill she uses in reverse instead to pick out genuine articles to decorate the Manor - Hypatia very much approves.

Personality

A detail-oriented disposition is very helpful for Paprika's profession, and it shows up in other aspects of her personality as well. Her sharp eye for non-verbal cues makes her one of the first dragons to notice when someone needs help, and she will discretely fix things that no-one else has noticed. Unlike most Pearlcatchers, Paprika dislikes the spotlight and prefers to let others take the credit. She used to be too easy to manipulate, but a few months with the clan has unearthed a stubborn streak worthy of the Flamecaller herself.

Background

Paprika has had a surprisingly colourful history, involving counterfeiting and at least three smuggling rings. She eventually became tired of how others were exploiting her skills, and one day made the decision to cut all ties with the underworld and start her own business and sell things directly to the market. Her new employment position brought a drastic decrease in influence and income, as well as quite a few vaguely threatening letters at her door - but to Paprika, the opportunity to share her passion with like-minded beginners was worth it (besides, she has an entire clan to help with threats now).

Relationships

Anyone would be alarmed to be serenaded at midnight by a total stranger, but that was how Paprika and Saffron met. Paprika has always been flattered by the attention, and responds to Saffron's passionate declarations with quiet support of his musical endeavours. Their relationship never quite moved past the gifting stage, and Paprika often wakes up to literal piles of trinkets that she has no idea what to do with. Otherwise, Paprika mostly keeps to herself, and though she's always up for a nice chat over tea, you'd be hard-pressed find her when she's nestled away in one of the Manor's many alcoves.
