"I'm only looking. It cant hurt, right?"

The youngest prince from a long line of Royalty, Aoba once called the Tsunami Flats his home. A curious child, he would often wander further and further from home in exploration.
His travels often took him into the eaves of the Hewn City, though his courage would fail him and he would scamper home to the safety of the shallow pools he called home.

Time and time again he was warned to stay away from the Hewn City, to instead stick to the water. Explore the pools, or even the reef. None of his family understood his obsession, and he didn't either. The strange calling, the sound in the back of his head that kept luring his attention back to the City, willing him to go further, explore deeper into his secrets. Time and time again he would find himself standing on the outskirts, looking at the cracked marble, daring himself each time to go a little further.

Until one day, after being reprimanded by his caretakers for not spending enough time on his studies, Aoba once again walked the path to the Hewn city with the urge to forget his problems for just a little while. Only this time was different, the too-fresh memories of being scorned and chided keeping him from turning back along the way until the young dragon found himself well and truly lost.

With his sense of helplessness lost deep within the Hewn City, his courage grew. He was lost, so he may as well explore. He followed the lure in his mind, the sound that was beckoning him and had been since his first trip.

He found what he wasnt even aware he was searching for. Deep underground in a sparse area of the City, he found a locked door. Once upon a time the lock had been sealed with numerous spells, warded with hexes and curses. Eons had passed since then, and the magic that had kept the door locked had all but faded. The thrumming in his head had died down, replaced by whispers and promises, beckoning him to open the door, to let out the secrets that had been hidden for millennia.

He had been too curious to resist, and his own basic water magic had been enough to break the seal completely, the door swinging wide open.

"Ah, young one. You came after all. It was foretold that you would."

A voice called from deep within the room, shrouded in darkness. A voice that sounded scratchy, as though it had not been used in many years. His courage almost failed him then, but Aoba steeled himself and created a small ball of blueish-white light as he stepped in to the room.

......

Hours later, Aoba returned to the surface, a feeling of wonderment filling him, a new companion by his side. He had freed Leylan from his ancient tomb and the other was bound to him by honour and magic to protect him until the end of his days.

His family, his Kingdom didn't take too well to him freeing an ancient, unknown dragon from an underground prison. It was an unspeakable crime, and one that had been foretold would happen. Despite the prophecy, Aoba was no longer welcomed in his kingdom, and he travelled back to the Light domain, Leylan by his side. The warmth of the sun, the brightness of the light brought him more comfort the the waters of home ever had.

Together they traversed the region before finding the town of Goldenvale. Leylan wasnt scorned, and became of great interest to the scholars there, providing insight to a world long gone, and Aoba felt accepted in a place that allowed him to explore his curiosity, allowed him to read of great accomplishments of others, to build and create and experiment, a place that helped him expand his magic.

A place he could really call home.
