In the beginning, there was a god. It was flimsy, and wretched, and enslaved for the ends of its makers, but it was a god all the same, and all gods can perform miracles.

A glimmering egg, a blood-red pearl, was discovered and rescued from beneath its paws before it could be crushed. Nobody believed it would hatch, but prized it as a treasure all the same--what a gem from a rotting, dying god! Beauty from nothing! Put it with the other pretty things, to be admired. Imagine everyone's surprise when that egg split and a child slipped out, immaculate and pure, perfect in every way. Forget the pedestal, put her on a throne, put a sword in her hand--she deserved all this, and more.

It's unclear why Vovo tolerated such an immediate and present threat to his leadership for so long--Vanth had a crowd of fanatic supporters before she uttered even her first word, and she grew into an impetuous and haughty adult, never once uncertain of her birthright. When the Black Carnivale fell apart, and Vovo's uncontested grip on power shattered, she gathered her followers and slew everyone who spoke against her before pulling them deeper into the ruins and rebuilding a little palace for herself. She watches and waits, bored of the war between Hunter and Beast, eager to clean it all up and move on to the next challenge.

In the end, there is a god. Her name is Vanth.
