The elder of Hatshepsut and Salome's adopted children, Roiben learned the ways of a ruler from his mother and the ways of a warrior from his ma, though he prefers the latter; having trained alongside his little sister, he thinks Tenel Ka is far better suited to be a crown princess than he is to be a crown prince. Neither of them even want to think about something happening to their mothers that would require them to step up, but the threat is always there, and so Roiben has, reluctantly, accepted his role. He and Tenel Ka are likely to rule together, if it comes down to that, agreeing to keep their mother's Charge safe together. Until that day comes, though, Roiben is mostly permitted free roam of the land unless he needs to make an appearance at some sort of diplomatic function.

Much of his free time is spent with Kaye these days, learning the languages of the Beastclans and her way with familiars; some of her pixies have even started following Roiben around, and they hardly pluck his feathers anymore, now that they trust him. As Kaye teaches Roiben to communicate the with Beasts, something his mothers think quite valuable, Roiben teaches Kaye how to be a dragon. She was still fairly new to the clan when she began to have feelings for Roiben, and his feelings for her grew despite his trepidation about her naivete. Once Kaye was truly a part of the clan, though, she declared her intent to become Roiben's consort, and he happily accepted her suit.

It was Roiben who first noted Blossom's budding feelings for Kaye; he recognized many of the behaviors he'd first exhibited when falling for Kaye in Blossom, and it was almost amusing to see someone else stumble through feelings as awkwardly as he had. He took the Fae aside to encourage her to approach Kaye after meditating on his own feelings for a while, discovering that he felt fairly secure in his relationship with Kaye since she'd declared her intent, and that he cared about Blossom enough as a friend to welcome her as another partner, if Kaye chose that. And Kaye did, something that led to the three of them spending more time together and Roiben and Blossom eventually becoming partners, as well. The prince adores his Fae ladies and is fiercely protective of them, having to be talked down from many a fight, his partners scolding him about his "unprincely" behavior, even if they do appreciate Roiben's willingness to stand up for them and declare his love in both words and actions.
